Job summary

J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College, part of Virginia's Community College System, is seeking a Grants Fiscal Technician to support the Grants Division.

The role handles grant-related financial transactions, journal entries, vendor and subrecipient payments, and monthly reconciliations with a focus on accuracy and compliance. The position requires strong accounting knowledge, detail orientation, and effective communication.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and fiscal practices.
• Ability to interpret and apply financial policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and standard office systems.
• Detail-oriented with numerical accuracy and reconciliation skills.
• Experience reviewing, processing, and reconciling financial transactions for accuracy and compliance.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Experience supporting grant-funded programs (preferred).
• Experience performing fiscal, accounting, or administrative support work.

Responsibilities

• Provide financial support to the Senior Grants Accountant within the Grants Division.
• Process and monitor grant-related financial transactions and journal entries.
• Handle vendor and subrecipient payments and corrective journal entries.
• Assist with monthly grant reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Prepare and submit reimbursement requests for Adult Education Grants.
• Ensure compliance with funding requirements and timely recovery of expenditures.
