Job summary

The Chronicle Of Higher Education, Inc. in Illinois seeks a Grant Accounting Manager to oversee all financial aspects of grant administration, including budgeting, accounting, reporting, and compliance.

You will ensure compliance with federal regulations (Uniform Guidance 2 CFR Part 200) and Illinois requirements, manage the grant accounting team, and deliver timely, accurate reports to funders and leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance (CPA or Master’s preferred).
• 5–7 years of accounting experience with 3+ years in grant/nonprofit accounting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee grant budgets, align with agreements and funding restrictions.
• Manage day-to-day grant accounting, classifications, and ledger entries.
• Prepare timely financial reports for funders and leadership.
• Ensure compliance with Uniform Guidance and Illinois grant requirements.
• Establish internal controls and improve grant accounting processes.
• Supervise the Grant Accountant(s) and mentor staff.
