Job summary

South Dakota Department of Health is seeking a full-time Accountant in Pierre (preferred) with duties in the Division of Finance & Operations. You will manage high-level fiscal activities, review contracts and RFPs, and handle accounts receivable and federal draws for 50+ grants.

Ideal candidates hold a business/ accounting degree with related experience or 5+ years in accounting. Strong Excel/Word/Query skills and GAAP knowledge are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or Economics with accounting courses, or 5+ years of related accounting experience.
• Knowledge of GAAP, standards, and practices.
• Microsoft Excel, Word, and Query proficiency.
• Contract review and grant administration experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage high-level fiscal responsibilities for the Department of Health.
• Prepare, review, and execute contracts and RFPs with accuracy.
• Process and track accounts receivable; manage federal draws for grants.
