Job summary

Hampton Roads Transit is seeking a Grants Accounting Supervisor to lead grant accounting, reporting, and compliance across federal, state, and local programs. You will supervise staff, coordinate with departments, and ensure accurate financial management in a dynamic transit environment.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field, strong leadership and communication skills, and a track record of timely grant drawdowns and audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field; MBA preferred.
• Strong knowledge of basic accounting methods and processes.
• Practical knowledge of computerized accounting systems and data entry.
• Ability to explain accounting processes to employees.

Responsibilities

• Supervises the grant staff responsible for project expenditure tracking, reconciling, reimbursing, and reporting.
• Prepares, reviews, and approves reimbursement requests to external funding partners.
• Ensures general ledger data for grants and related assets are accurate and reconciled.
• Oversees maintenance of official grant files and supporting documentation.
