Are you looking to build your nonprofit resume, practice grant writing, and contribute to a project focused on human connection and mental wellbeing? Listening Lab is seeking a skilled and motivated Volunteer Grant Writer to help us secure funding for our growing initiative.

About Listening Lab

Listening Lab creates spaces for meaningful conversations that reduce loneliness and foster community connection. We combine deep listening, conversation games, and accessible events to promote mental health and belonging.

About the Role

This volunteer position is ideal for someone who enjoys writing, has a keen eye for detail, and wants to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit development. You’ll work directly with our founder and strategy team to research grant opportunities, draft compelling proposals, and help shape our messaging for funders.

What You'll Do:

• Research potential grants, funding opportunities, and corporate sponsorship prospects
• Draft and edit grant proposals, LOIs, and related documents
• Collaborate on storytelling and impact framing to strengthen applications
• Assist in developing standard language for proposals and funding materials
• Gain insight into the nonprofit world, from strategy to operations

What We're Looking For:

• Strong writing and communication skills
• Interest in mental health, community building, or social impact
• Detail-oriented with the ability to translate ideas into clear, engaging language
• Eagerness to grow your nonprofit and grant writing experience
• Self-starter comfortable working independently with some guidance

This is a volunteer position, ideal for students, career changers, or anyone building experience in nonprofit work or fundraising. Flexible hours, remote-friendly, with occasional in-person meetings in NYC if desired.
