We are seeking a Technical Writer/Documentation Engineer on a contract basis to help support our customer's business needs. This role is 100% remote in EST.

The main function of a technical writer is to write technical materials, such as equipment manuals, appendices, or operating and maintenance instructions. A typical technical writer is responsible for organizing, editing, and maintaining technical records and files.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain software and hardware documentation for HorizonOS developers.
  • Work closely with engineering, product, and support teams to ensure the quality and accuracy of content.
  • Design, draft, and edit technical and process documentation.
  • Support the release and adoption of software.
  • Support multiple programming languages and development platforms.
  • Create and maintain code samples and sample applications, as needed.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Computer Science or English or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of experience authoring technical documentation for an engineering audience.*
  • Experience with programming languages like C++ or similar.
  • Experience working with markdown content formatting.
  • Experience interpreting example code so that it can be explained to users.
  • Experience using source control to manage and publish content.

Preferred

  • Familiarity with VR/MR concepts and technologies.
  • Established record of strong project ownership, project management, and self-direction.
  • Able to collaborate effectively across multiple teams and coordinate deadlines.
  • Able to assist in the automation of documentation processes.
