Job summary

Texas State University is seeking an Upward Bound Grant Specialist to support academic achievement and postsecondary enrollment for program participants across San Marcos, Kyle, Seguin and the Texas State campus.

This grant-funded role reports to the Director of Upward Bound San Marcos and requires evening and weekend work. The position handles recruitment, assessments, monitoring progress, and coordination of tutoring and college access activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work or a related field.
• Experience with academic support programs that include academic advising, and the college exploration/application process.
• Effective writing and speaking skills.
• Experience with computer software (Microsoft suite) and database management platforms.

Responsibilities

• Assist with program recruitment.
• Assist with completing IEPs and annual assessments for participants.
• Assist with monitoring student grades and tracking academic progress.
• Assist with tutoring, after-school sessions, and summer program.
• Provide college admission and financial aid information for participants.
• Document services provided and assist in reporting.
