Leech Lake Band Of Ojibwe is seeking a Grants Coordinator responsible for reviewing federal and state grants, preparing grant applications, and maintaining reporting databases for the Public Safety Division. Summary: Responsible for review of grants; reports, documents and creates files for new or existing Federal, State, grants obtained by the Department of Public Safety. Follows up with grant/ budget recommendations directed by the Public Safety Director. Works closely with program director with regard to submission of narrative progress reports to funding agencies, purchases of equipment, supplies and other requirements of the grant. Provides technical assistance to program director in regard to timeline compliance with grant guidelines.
Education Requirements and Experience:
High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D) is required.
Associate’s Degree in Business Administration Management or Accounting is preferred.
Additional Qualifications and Skills:
Experience and knowledge of accounting, fiscal management, program operation and grants/contracts management is preferred.
Experience and understanding LLBO operations is preferred.
Technical writing and communication skills are required.
Good verbal, written communication and customer service skills.
Good attendance and punctuality is required.
Pre-employment and random drug testing is mandatory for all safety sensitive positions.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Preparing and planning of grant applications in a timely manner as required.
Prepare and maintain a reporting database of all grants and contracts, reporting periods and renewal due dates.
Create and maintain grant files and the appropriate budget for each awarded grant.
Copy appropriate grant files for distribution to accounting division and Grantors office as needed.
Review incoming grants and prepare press release for each award.
Track and monitor all grants/contracts reports to ensure they are submitted by required deadline.
Provide technical assistance to program managers to include report reminder notices.
Create and maintain a master list of all Grants of the Public Safety Division.
On-going maintenance and updating of Grants file system.
Assemble database for use in grants, reports and project demographics.
Research new funding sources to include, but not limited to: Federal, State, Foundations and Corporations.
Complete and submit LLBO monthly, quarterly and annual Grants reports.
Update and maintain the Grant Review policy and procedure manual.
Participate in the Department of Public Safety and Budget teams.
Assists Program Managers with budget modifications and grantor notifications as required.
Searches and updates statistical data as required.
Maintain a list of all grants applications submitted and outcome results.
Attend and or conduct all mandatory meetings and trainings as required.
Maintain confidentiality and professional ethics at all times.
Travel in and out of the state on a possibly regular basis.
Understanding and sensitivity to Native American culture.
Adhere to policies governing staff conduct.
All other related duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
Sedentary work.
Ability to lift and carry up to 25lbs. utilizing safe lifting techniques.
Ability to drive in adverse weather and road conditions.
Ability to work from remote locations at the discretion of the Director as needed.
