Job summary

The University of Virginia's Department of Psychology seeks a proactive Research Operations Coordinator to oversee the department's research operations, aligning grant activities with staffing, financial, and administrative processes.

Reporting to the Assistant Chair, the coordinator partners with PIs and central research administration to manage funding across sources and streamline the award lifecycle from kickoff to closeout.

Qualifications

• Experience in research operations, project management, finance or related administrative field.
• Foundation in financial monitoring, reconciliation, procurement, and personnel funding or payroll costing.

Responsibilities

• Maintain understanding of the research portfolio's timelines, funding commitments, personnel needs, milestones, and operational dependencies.
• Coordinate departmental operations throughout the grant lifecycle with research administration staff, including kickoff, implementation, funding changes, approvals, renewals, and closeout.
• Anticipate impacts of new grants and renewals on staffing, teaching commitments, budgets, effort allocation, and resources.
• Track deadlines, handoffs across offices, resolve gaps and elevate issues requiring expertise or leadership decisions.
