Job summary

The University of Wisconsin–Madison seeks a Multi-Functional Research Administrative Manager in the Department of Anesthesiology to oversee grant lifecycle management and lead our pre- and post-award team.

You will collaborate with finance, research program management, and principal investigators to submit, report, and adjust budgets across the award lifecycle. This role reports to the Research Program Manager.

Qualifications

• Experience in lifecycle management of extramurally funded federal awards.
• Demonstrated experience developing and balancing large budgets.
• Familiarity with Workday, UW–Madison, and SMPH grant submission and management procedures is highly desirable.
• Prior management experience.
• Experience with eRA Commons.
• Experience working with research faculty.

Responsibilities

• Provides training to faculty, staff, and/or administrators within the unit regarding policy, procedure, and/or execution of sponsored project administration
• Executes research administration operational policies and procedures including financial, administrative, staffing, and compliance on behalf of a unit
• Executes activities related to financial compliance, audit, or reporting on behalf of a unit
• Executes activities related to proposal submission, contract negotiation, and/or award setup on behalf of a unit
• May supervise the day-to-day activities of research administration staff
• Serves as a key resource to leadership and staff in the unit as well as a liaison to partners and stakeholders
• May have authority to submit proposals, agreements, or invoices to a sponsor on behalf of the principal investigator or project director
• Reviews and approves programmatic transactions spanning the life-cycle of sponsored projects to ensure compliance within institutional and/or sponsor policies and procedures
