Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Structural or Construction Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of eight (8) years of professional experience in engineering or in a federally funded project within the public sector, including four (4) years in a managerial capacity.
• Valid Texas Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred.
• Some positions may require a Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent issued by another state by time of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee third party administrator contracted to initiate and manage to completion City public works and transportation/infrastructure construction projects funded by federal, state and regional planning agencies.
• Direct, plan, administer and oversee a citywide CIP budget of federally/state funded projects for systematic construction, maintenance, upgrading and replacement of public buildings, transportation facilities and other City infrastructure.
• Oversee and coordinate construction activities, monitor project schedules, construction quality control, and project resources to assure compliance with funding agencies' regulations.
• Review plans and specifications for construction projects, monitor adherence to contract terms and deadlines, and resolve issues related to project management and funding.
• Serve as liaison to TxDOT and MPO ensuring fair share of funding; participate in committee and council meetings to increase project awareness.
