Job summary

Steamboat Springs School District RE-2 is seeking a qualified Long Term Substitute School Social Worker/School Health Professional for the 2026-27 school year, covering Soda Creek Elementary and Steamboat Springs Middle School.

The role involves MTSS participation, crisis teams, behavioral health interventions, and close collaboration with families, staff, and community partners. Colorado certification is required; position is grant funded for 3 years with opportunities for continuity.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work, School Counseling or School Psychology from accredited institution
• Valid Colorado Special Service provider license or current DORA license and related credentials
• Experience as a school social worker or school counselor preferred
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; bilingual a plus

Responsibilities

• Participates in student concern teams to support behavioral health interventions
• Supports staff understanding of student-family-school-community relations
• Serves as district representative on community teams related to youth behavioral health
• Acts as a resource to special education staff during student staffings
• Participates on MTSS, Threat Assessment and Crisis Teams
• Coordinates staff training on substance abuse, restorative practices, suicide prevention and behavioral health
• Develops parent education workshops related to behavioral health and prevention
• Provides and coordinates behavioral health interventions for students and families
• Advocates for students with parents, teachers, and administrators
• Refers families to community services and coordinates multi-agency supports
