Job summary

Boston Public Schools seeks a School Based Social Worker to support trauma-responsive behavioral health services in the district. This long-term substitute role starts immediately and runs through 01/01/2027, with potential extension if the vacancy is not filled.

The role requires a Master’s in Social Work, appropriate licensure (LCSW/LICSW or LMHC), and urban school experience. Responsibilities include counseling, crisis response, data monitoring, and collaboration with SST and school leaders.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Social Work required.
• MA DESE School Social Worker/School Adjustment Counselor License required.
• Licensed Social Worker (LCSW/LICSW) or LMHC; or eligible for a Social Worker license.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and participate in Student Success Team (SST) activities.
• Collaborate with School Leadership to establish sustainable structures and family voice.
• Design and implement tiered MTSS interventions in collaboration with SST.
• Monitor progress data and ensure interventions lead to desired outcomes.
• Provide counseling (individual and/or group) and crisis response as needed.
• Maintain and submit monthly reports for the Office of Social Work.
