Job summary

Ultimate Staffing Services in Fresno, California is seeking a detail-oriented Grant Accountant to join their client’s team. You will manage financial administration of grants and contracts, ensure compliance with funding requirements, and support project teams from award setup through closeout.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Finance.
  • Minimum of two years' accounting, grants administration, or financial support experience.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Knowledge of federal and state grant regulations and contract compliance preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Valid driver's license may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain grant and contract accounts.
  • Prepare, review, and submit invoices, financial reports, and reimbursement requests to funding agencies.
  • Monitor grant and contract expenditures to ensure compliance with federal, state, sponsor, and organizational guidelines.
  • Review and approve purchase requisitions, payment requests, and payroll transactions for funding availability and budget compliance.
  • Process journal entries, account adjustments, and financial reconciliations.
  • Provide guidance and customer support to project managers, administrative staff, and funding agencies regarding budgets, account balances, reporting requirements, and allowable costs.
  • Monitor reporting deadlines and ensure all financial deliverables are submitted accurately and on time.
  • Assist with subcontract monitoring, budget revisions, and account management.
  • Coordinate grant and contract closeout activities, including final reporting and collection of outstanding receivables.
  • Support internal and external audits and maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Participate in training opportunities and stay informed on applicable funding regulations and compliance requirements.

  • Knowledge of federal and state grant regulations and contract compliance preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Ability to learn and utilize financial and accounting systems.
  • Strong customer service mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Valid driver's license may be required.
