Job summary

Agrex Inc. in Nebraska is seeking a trading support professional to collaborate with the team on commodity trading activities, monitor positions, and maintain relationships with suppliers and end users.

You will assist with execution and ensure timely grain settlements while adhering to company policies. You will also review credit limits, keep up with market intelligence, and help maximize profit through informed trading within established guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Experience in daily commodity trading activities and understanding of market dynamics.
  • Ability to monitor positions and reports, and to communicate effectively with management.
  • Knowledge of futures, basis, spreads, and risk management concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Assist General and Assistant General Manager in daily tasks.
  • Monitor Daily Position Report (DPR) and overall positions and strategy.
  • Coordinate process from initial contract to final settlement.
  • Collaborate with other offices to identify trading opportunities.
  • Originate commodities from Country Elevators and Company owned facilities.
  • Solicit new business and maintain existing relationships with customers and suppliers.
  • Merchandise commodities by Truck and Rail.
  • Learn and understand rail rates and programs.
  • Read and understand trade rules and regulations.
  • Review credit limits and policies to maintain compliance.
  • Complete execution records to assist grain settlements.
  • Report accurate grain positions daily and monthly.
  • Stay knowledgeable on commodity market intelligence and supply/demand.
  • Trade commodities within position limits and risk guidelines.
  • Understand futures, basis, spreads and hedging.
  • Protect company inventories and contracted positions by hedging where appropriate.
  • Report breaches of position limits, credit, regulatory, or company rules to supervisor.

Job description

HOURS: General 8am- 5pm but available at all hours as needed for trading environment and customers schedules both domestic and around the world.
GENERAL SCOPE OF WORK

Work closely with Agrex team members and customers in commodity based daily trading activities. Responsible for trading position, developing and supporting relationships with suppliers and end users, maximizing profit for Agrex and adhering to strict business ethics and company policies. Communication with management and understanding strategy while working on implementation throughout trading group. Responsible for daily position limit monitoring and reporting. Assist with execution and trading communication between groups.

RESPONSIBILITIES LISTED BELOW:
  • Assist General and Assistant General Manager in daily tasks.
  • Work closely with management and monitor Daily Position Report (DPR) as well as overall positions and strategy.
  • Communicate and coordinate process and procedures in place for traders and execution staff. (Paper flow from initial contract to final settlement)
  • Work closely with other offices to find synergies and trading opportunities.
  • Originate commodities from Country Elevators and Company owned facilities.
  • Solicit new business and maintain existing business.
  • Manage customer and supplier relationships.
  • Merchandise commodities by both Truck and Rail.
  • Learn and understand rail rates and programs.
  • Read and understand trade rules and regulations.
  • Review credit limits and policies to maintain compliance at all times.
  • Complete execution records as needed to assist in making grain settlement in a timely manner.
  • Report accurate and timely grain positions and review reports daily and monthly.
  • Keep knowledgeable in commodity market intelligence and current supply and demand.
  • Trade commodities within company position limits and within trading guidelines.
  • Understand Futures, basis, spreads along with using and understanding risk management skills.
  • Protect company inventories and grain contracted positions by being properly hedged.
  • Report to supervisor immediately any breach of position limits, credit, regulatory, or company rules or regulations.
