Ideal candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and possess 2–4 years of experience in commodity trading. You will be integral in maximizing trade and maintaining knowledge of market factors influencing prices.

Summary

The Merchandiser/Trader will be able to profitably trade assigned commodities within a defined geographical territory, following company policies and procedures, developing and maintaining strong customer and supplier relationships, and managing their profit center efficiently and professionally.

Essential Functions

• Lead, support and foster a safety culture and best practices throughout the organization.
• Maximize trade in assigned commodities to produce superior profits.
• Maintain knowledge of market factors that influence price movements.
• Communicate market information and activity to traders and management.
• Maintain a working knowledge of trading rules and regulations.
• Operate within policies, procedures, and position limits, and accurately report positions and results.
• Arrange for cost‑effective and efficient transportation of commodities.
• Maintain the company’s reputation through honest handling of customer/supplier relations.
• Supervise support staff and ensure proper execution of all contracts.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Ag Business, Economics, Finance, or related area.
• 2–4 years of commodity trading experience.
• Positive attitude and ability to motivate staff and customers.
• Ability to understand commodity markets, futures and cash markets.
• Knowledge of grain flows, freight markets, and market opportunities.
