Alliant Engineering, Inc., an employee-owned firm, is seeking a Graduate Traffic Engineer to join a cohesive traffic team. You'll work under a licensed Professional Engineer across DOTs, counties, cities, and developers on varied transportation projects.

Responsibilities include supporting signal timing projects, developing travel demand models, conducting capacity and safety analyses, and contributing to ITS design and traffic plans.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (or related field) or actively pursuing degree.
• 0-4 years of experience in Traffic Engineering.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel).
• Motivated to learn, take initiative, and contribute to high-quality deliverables.
• Excellent technical, written, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support signal timing projects, including building, optimizing Synchro models and implementing signal timing plans.
• Developing regional travel demand for traffic forecasting and microscopic traffic simulation models for urban arterial and freeway traffic operations.
• Conduct traffic capacity, traffic operations, and safety analysis for traffic impact studies (TIS), intersection control evaluations (ICE) and corridor studies.
• Supporting documentation, evaluation and design of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).
• Traffic design – plans, specifications, quantities and estimates for traffic signal, roadway lighting, roadway signing, and pavement markings.
• Developing maintenance of traffic plans to support roadway construction staging.

The Impact You’ll Have:

As a Graduate Traffic Engineer, you will have the ability to be a part of a cohesive Traffic Engineering team. Jump start your career by being exposed to a variety of transportation engineering experiences under the direction of a licensed and knowledgeable Professional Engineer. You will work with a variety of agencies including DOT’s, Counties, Cities and Developers.

The base pay for this position is expected to be in the range of $70,000 - $80,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
