Job summary

UC San Diego's Department of Urban Studies and Planning seeks a Graduate Coordinator to administer all aspects of its MURP and PhD programs, collaborating with the Department Chair and Graduate Education office to support student success.

You will provide comprehensive advising, monitor progress, coordinate milestones, and manage graduate funding, fellowships, teaching appointments, and program reviews, with duties including curriculum coordination and scheduling.

Qualifications

• Experience with academic advising in a university setting.
• Experience managing graduate student funding and budgets.
• Experience with university databases and graduate student information systems.
• Knowledge of university processes related to graduate student affairs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present and report clearly.
• Ability to write concisely and persuasively; professional communication with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive advising and administrative support to graduate students from admission through degree completion.
• Monitor academic progress, coordinate degree milestones, and ensure policy compliance.
• Coordinate curriculum, course scheduling and program reviews.
• Manage graduate student funding, fellowships, teaching appointments and readerships.
• Serve as liaison among students, faculty and the Division of Graduate Education to support student success.
