Job summary

Buro Happold is seeking a motivated Graduate Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer to join our team and contribute to innovative and sustainable engineering solutions.

You will gain hands-on experience while supporting the design, documentation, and coordination of plumbing and fire protection systems across diverse building types. The role suits recent graduates eager to learn in a multidisciplinary environment and participate in client meetings and value engineering sessions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Fire Protection, Civil, Sanitary, Environmental, or Architectural Engineering.
• Coursework in mechanical design, heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid hydraulics/dynamics.
• Awareness of building, plumbing and fire codes (IPC, NFPA).
• Proficiency with BIM modeling software, such as Revit and AutoCAD.
• Internship experience at an engineering related firm preferred.
• Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible manner.
• Eagerness to learn and work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design, documentation, and coordination of plumbing and fire protection systems for various building types.
• Prepare construction drawings from schematic design through construction administration.
• Perform calculations using standard engineering software and tools.
• Conduct field surveys to document existing conditions and observe progress during construction.
• Participate in interdisciplinary coordination with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, and civil engineering teams.
• Assist in client meetings and value engineering sessions.
• Contribute to quality assurance and constructability reviews.
• Help develop discipline specific standards and specifications.
