Buro Happold Limited is seeking a Graduate Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer to join our team in Boston. You will assist in design, documentation, and coordination of building systems, gaining hands-on experience on a variety of projects with guidance from senior engineers.

This role emphasizes collaboration across disciplines, exposure to BIM tools like Revit and AutoCAD, and learning how codes and standards apply to sustainable building design. Hybrid working and mentorship are offered.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Fire Protection, Civil, Sanitary, Environmental, or Architectural Engineering
• Coursework in mechanical design, heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid hydraulics/dynamics
• Awareness of building, plumbing and fire codes (IPC, NFPA)
• Proficiency with BIM modeling software, such as Revit and AutoCAD
• Internship experience at an engineering related firm preferred, and proven interest in the built environment and sustainable design
• Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible manner
• Eagerness to learn and work as part of a multidisciplinary team

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design, documentation, and coordination of plumbing and fire protection systems for various building types
• Support development of plumbing and fire protection system designs under senior engineers
• Prepare construction drawings from schematic design through construction administration
• Perform calculations using standard engineering software and tools
• Conduct field surveys to document existing conditions and observe progress during construction
• Participate in interdisciplinary coordination with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, and civil teams
• Assist in client meetings and value engineering sessions
• Contribute to quality assurance and constructability reviews
• Help develop discipline specific standards and specifications
