Jacksonville State University is seeking a First-Generation Student Success Peer Mentor. The role focuses on supporting first-generation students’ academic success, retention, and sense of belonging through proactive outreach, relationship-building, and programming, with emphasis on evening and non-traditional hours when students are available.

Responsibilities include coordinating undergraduate peer mentors, conducting outreach, building relationships, and guiding students to campus resources.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Graduate student enrollment at Jacksonville State University required.
• Experience with college students, youth, mentoring, or related areas preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.
• Evenings and occasional weekends availability required.

Responsabilités

• Coordinate the activities of undergraduate peer mentors.
• Conduct proactive outreach to first-generation students.
• Build relationships and provide encouragement for campus engagement and student success.
• Meet students in residence halls, dining facilities, library, and other campus spaces.
• Assist students in identifying needs and connecting with campus resources.
• Support students experiencing challenges related to belonging, financial hardship, or time management.
