Job summary

UT Health Tyler is seeking a Night Shift ER Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Emergency Department in Tyler, TX. This full-time role involves delivering high-quality nursing care across the patient spectrum from newborns to seniors, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team and aligning with physician orders and hospital protocols.

The ideal candidate holds an ADN, current Texas RN license, and completes required certifications (BLS, ACLS, PALS/ENPC, NIHSS) within orientation period.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate's degree in nursing (ADN).
  • Current Texas RN license.
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire.
  • ACLS required before the end of orientation.
  • PALS or ENPC required before the end of orientation.
  • NIHSS certification before the end of orientation.

Responsibilities

  • Administers care to a patient population ranging from newborn to geriatric and utilizes a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to ensure that each patient receives nursing care appropriate to his/her illness or injury.
  • Prioritizes patient care needs based on the patient assessment and uses the nursing process to implement a plan of care appropriate to each patient's needs.
  • Delivers care consistent with the physician's orders and treatment protocols and in accordance with hospital and departmental policy.

Our medical staff includes more than 500 physicians and a full complement of subspecialty groups.

Qualifications
  • Job Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate's degree in nursing (ADN)
  • Must maintain current Texas RN License
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required before the end of orientation
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) is required before the end of orientation
  • NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certification before the end of orientation
Preferred Job Requirements
  • One year of emergency nursing experience
  • Two years of acute care nursing experience
  • CEN
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC)
