Job Summary

The professional registered nurse has the authority, responsibility, and shift accountability for delivering nursing care through the use of the nursing process. The RN applies competent clinical knowledge, skills, and independent judgment to provide quality patient care, whether performed personally or delegated to other healthcare providers.

The RN must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide relevant care to patients across the lifespan, assessing and interpreting patient data to meet individual age-specific needs.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education, Certification, and Licensure: Graduate nurses must obtain licensure within 60 days of hire. Licenses must be valid before the expiration of any temporary permit, unless prevented by circumstances such as pandemic-related testing center closures.
  • Obtain Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • OR Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Diploma, with current enrollment in a BSN program and completion within 5 years of hire

Specialty Accreditation Requirements

Complete annual education related to specialty standards as defined by accreditation bodies.

Physical Requirements
  • Minimize manual patient handling, using equipment and aids as indicated.
  • Work requires strength and stamina, including lifting and moving materials over 40 lbs.
Working Environment
  • Work closely with others, sometimes during irregular hours.
  • Potential exposure to biohazards, infectious diseases, deceased individuals, water, and electrical hazards.
