Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks a Missile GNC Engineer to design, implement, and evaluate GN&C subsystems for the nation's missile systems. You will join a team of engineers, physicists, and mathematicians dedicated to independent evaluation of strategic systems.

You'll work with MATLAB and Simulink, develop navigation algorithms for 6-DOF simulations, and pursue opportunities to advance state estimation and Kalman filtering in a security-cleared

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in engineering, physics, math, or a related field.
• Coursework in flight dynamics, guidance, navigation, or control, linear state-space systems, physical system modeling, or estimation theory.
• Willingness to learn and expand capabilities.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and evaluate GN&C methodologies for next-generation missile flight systems.
• Apply state estimation to navigation problems with large state representations.
• Develop and understand navigation error models from math/physics principles.
• Analyze real missile flight test data to assess GN&C performance.
• Work with MATLAB/Simulink to generate navigation sensor models and conduct trade studies.
• Develop navigation algorithms for 6-DOF simulations.
