Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks a GN&C Missile Engineer to design, model, and evaluate missile GN&C systems. The role focuses on high-speed nonlinear dynamics, Kalman-filtered navigation, and sensor fusion under GPS-contested conditions.

The candidate will perform trade studies, implement algorithms, and develop data products while presenting findings to Sponsors and internal teams. Security clearance eligibility is required for work on sensitive defense programs.

Qualifications

  • BS in Aerospace/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Physics.
  • 2+ years of relevant technical experience in estimation methods, covariance analysis, inertial navigation, flight dynamics, or control law design.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct GN&C subsystem trade studies, designs and analyses for next generation missile systems.
  • Assess performance via pre-flight and post-flight analyses using 6 DOF models, covariance analysis, and telemetry.
  • Develop and assess algorithm improvements for GN&C
  • Design, test, and use software to conduct technical analyses informing APL’s opinions.
