Summary:
The American University Career Center is seeking a creative andskilled graduate student to serve as a Media & CommunicationsGraduate Assistant (Videographer). This position will support theAU Career Center's storytelling and student engagement efforts bycreating compelling video content that highlights studentexperiences, employer partnerships, career resources, events, andexperiential learning opportunities.
The graduate assistant will focus on producing podcasts,interviews, and creative digital content for social media,websites, and other digital platforms. The ideal candidate willhave an understanding of camera operation, lighting, audiorecording, video editing, and digital asset management. They shouldbe eager to collaborate, receptive to feedback, and able to thrivein a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Essential Functions:
- Film and edit short-form and long-form video content for socialmedia, websites, digital platforms, and marketing campaigns.
- Produce "Day in the Life" videos, internship and study abroadfeatures, student success stories, and podcast-style interviewswith students, faculty, staff, alumni, employers, and communitypartners.
- Capture photo and video content at AU Career Center events,workshops, career fairs, employer programs, and specialinitiatives.
- Collaborate with AU Career Center staff to develop creativeconcepts, storyboards, and content strategies.
- Create captions, graphics, and subtitles to ensureaccessibility and audience engagement.
- Organize, archive, and maintain video files and other digitalmedia assets.
- Assist with equipment setup, media organization, and contentproduction workflows.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
- Part-time.
- 15 - 17 hours per week.
Salary Range:
- $20.00 - $21.00 per hour.
Required Education and Experience:
- Must be a current American University graduate student.
- Experience with video production, filming, and editing.
- Proficiency with Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects;willingness to learn and adapt to additional Adobe Creative Cloudapplications or similar software used in daily production.
- Strong storytelling, communication, and organizationalskills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meetdeadlines.
- Must reside in DC, Maryland, or Virginia during period ofemployment.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Portfolio or work samples demonstrating video production andediting skills are preferred.
- Knowledge of accessibility best practices for digitalmedia.
- Creative mindset with strong visual storytelling skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively, accept constructive feedback,and adapt in a dynamic work environment.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
- Candidates must be available to begin working during the firstweek of the Fall 2026 semester.
