A prominent research institution in New Mexico is offering a paid summer internship program designed for graduate students in various engineering disciplines. Interns will gain hands-on experience and mentoring while working on vital projects that support national security. The position requires current enrollment in a graduate program and maintaining a GPA of at least 3.0. Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in at least 12 semester credit hours.
• Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
• Must currently have and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Support projects in mechanical systems design and operation.
• Engage in national security-related engineering tasks.

The ES-WPD Graduate Student (GS) Program offers paid summer internships for graduate students in a variety of engineering disciplines. The program provides mentoring, hands‑on technical experience, and professional development opportunities through a formalized work plan that complements the student's chosen area of study.

Examples of LANL projects in ES-WPD include, but are not limited to:

• Learn about facilities mechanical systems design and operation from seasoned engineers
• See how your engineering skills can contribute to national security
• Learn how to be a design team member
• Learn how to navigate and implement prevailing industry codes and standards
• Gain expertise in the development of design deliverables including drawings, specifications, test and inspection plans (TIPs), statements of special inspections (SSIs), and calculations
• Develop engineering judgment

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

• Currently enrolled in a graduate program.
• Must be enrolled in at least 12 semester credit hours (or full‑time equivalent). Entering college freshmen must provide documentation indicating matriculation into an undergraduate degree program.
• Must currently have and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).

Work Location

The work location for this position is on‑site and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
