Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or environmental engineering, or equivalent, with ability to obtain within 6–12 months.
  • Engineer-in-Training certification or ability to obtain within 6–12 months

  • Assist project team in the design of public infrastructure work.

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Civil Graduate Engineer, to join our Infrastructure Design team.

In this role, you are expected to work on a team providing support to a licensed Civil Engineer while learning the company’s standard practices and local agency codes. As part of our Public Infrastructure team, you will be dedicated to becoming proficient in Design Software, performing technical calculations, preparing plans and specifications, and assisting with other project management and engineering tasks. In pursuit of a Professional Engineering license, the applicant must be organized, self-motivated, and able to collaboratively solve complex issues on time and within budget.

Expected start date: January 2026 or May/June 2027

Job Requirements
  • Assist project team in design of public infrastructure work
  • Provides technical, day-to-day design support to the Project Engineer, including drafting support for plan production activities
  • Prepare engineering reports, feasibility studies, and utility evaluations
  • Prepares drawings and visual aids
  • Prepare various exhibits and design drawings using AutoCAD Civil3D, Bluebeam, MicroStation, Open Roads, HEC RAS, or other related engineering software
  • Follow internal QA/QC procedures, engineering standards, and best practices.
  • Observes construction activities and works to develop an understanding of construction methods and the translation of engineering drawings and specifications into the constructed product
  • Works to learn the fundamentals of engineering processes and to apply them successfully to operating systems
  • Coordination with agency staff and internal support teams on designs, analysis, and issues
  • Utilizing Microsoft Office Suite to develop calculations in Excel, reports and letters in Word, and presentations in PowerPoint
  • Other duties as assigned
