Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Civil Graduate Engineer to join our Transportation team in Austin. You will support a licensed Civil Engineer while learning the firm's design practices and local agency codes.

The role centers on public infrastructure design and plan development using widely used software and drafting tools. You will prepare reports, drawings, and calculations, collaborate with agency staff, and ensure QA/QC standards are met.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering or equivalent.
  • Engineer-in-Training certification or ability to obtain within 6–12 months.
  • Proficiency with common design software and drafting tools.

Responsibilities

  • Assist project team in design of public infrastructure work.
  • Provide technical drafting support for plan production activities.
  • Prepare engineering reports, feasibility studies, and utility evaluations.
  • Prepare drawings and visual aids for presentations.
  • Create design drawings using AutoCAD Civil3D, Open Roads, or similar tools.
  • Follow QA/QC procedures and agency standards.
  • Collaborate with agency staff and internal teams on designs.
  • Support construction observation and learn project processes.

Description

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Civil Graduate Engineer to join our Transportation team.

In this role, you are expected to work on a team providing support to a licensed Civil Engineer while learning the

company's standard practices and local agency codes. As part of our Public Infrastructure team, you will be dedicated

to becoming proficient in Design Software, performing technical calculations, preparing plans and specifications, and

assisting with other project management and engineering tasks. In pursuit of a Professional Engineering license, the

applicant must be organized, self-motivated, and able to collaboratively solve complex issues on time and within

budget.

Expected start date: January 2026 or May/June 2027

Requirements
Job Requirements:
  • Assist project team in design of public infrastructure work
  • Provides technical, day-to-day design support to the Project Engineer, including drafting support for plan production activities
  • Prepare engineering reports, feasibility studies, and utility evaluations
  • Prepares drawings and visual aids
  • Prepare various exhibits and design drawings using AutoCAD Civil3D, Bluebeam, MicroStation, Open Roads, HEC RAS, or other related engineering software
  • Follow internal QA/QC procedures, engineering standards, and best practices.
  • Observes construction activities and works to develop an understanding of construction methods and the translation of engineering drawings and specifications into the constructed product
  • Works to learn the fundamentals of engineering processes and to apply them successfully to operating systems
  • Coordination with agency staff and internal support teams on designs, analysis, and issues
  • Utilizing Microsoft Office Suite to develop calculations in Excel, reports and letters in Word, and presentations in PowerPoint
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or equivalent field of study, and/or the ability to obtain within 6-12 months
