Job summary

James Gray Recruitment is seeking a Graduate Electrical Engineer to join its Building Services team in Boston. You will contribute to energy-efficient electrical designs across life sciences, healthcare, higher education, and commercial developments, supporting projects from concept through construction.

Working with architects and multidisciplinary engineers, you will design power, lighting, emergency power, and low-voltage systems, prepare calculations and drawings in Revit and AutoCAD, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
• Experience designing electrical systems in building services consulting.
• Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
• Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA, and building codes.
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and in teams.
• EIT certification or progress toward PE licensure.
• Experience with healthcare, laboratory, life sciences, education, or commercial projects.
• Knowledge of lighting controls, emergency power systems, and sustainable design.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical building services including power distribution, lighting, emergency power, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems
• Prepare engineering calculations, reports, specifications, and construction documents
• Produce and review drawings using Revit and AutoCAD
• Coordinate electrical systems with mechanical, plumbing, architectural, and structural disciplines
• Attend client meetings, design reviews, and site visits as required
• Support construction administration activities, including reviewing shop drawings and responding to RFIs
• Contribute to sustainable and energy-efficient building design solutions
• Ensure designs comply with applicable U.S. codes and industry standards

s. Working alongside experienced mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineers, you will play a key role in delivering innovative, energy-efficient electrical designs from concept through to construction

The Role

As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for developing electrical building systems for a wide variety of new-build and refurbishment projects. You will collaborate closely with architects, clients, and multidisciplinary design teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions that meet project objectives, budgets, and schedules.
