Position Overview
Baldwin Wallace University's Office of Athletic Communications is seeking two highly motivated and qualified Graduate Assistants to join the team starting in August 2025. These two-year positions offer an opportunity to gain valuable experience in collegiate sports communications while pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in sport management or a related field at Baldwin Wallace University. In addition to tuition reimbursement at Baldwin Wallace, the position includes a 10-month stipend and a partial campus meal plan. Holiday break, weekend and evening availability is required. This is a graduate position that is not eligible for benefits.
Key Responsibilities
The following outlines the essential functions of the position and is not to be considered a detailed description of all duties inherent in the position.
- Content Creation & Promotion: Assist the Director of Athletic Communications in promoting and publicizing all 28 varsity sports at Baldwin Wallace University.
- Writing & Editing: Write and edit press releases, game recaps, student-athlete features, and other related materials.
- Publications: Contribute to the creation and production of game programs and other athletic publications.
- Website Management: Help update and maintain the athletics website, bwyellowjackets.com.
- Video & Streaming: Assist with game-day video streaming, video scoreboards, and video content management for the website.
- Statistics & Reporting: Compile and distribute game statistics, and assist with live statistical tracking during events.
- Social Media: Maintain and update Baldwin Wallace Athletics' social media accounts to enhance online presence.
- Graphic Design: Create and design graphics for digital and print materials using Adobe Creative Suite.
- Software Operation: Operate various software programs, including Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, NCAA Live Stats, Presto Stats, and Stat Crew.
Additional Responsibilities
The Graduate Assistant will serve as the primary media contacts for specific sports, as assigned by the Director of Athletic Communications, based on familiarity and expertise. They may also assist with other game-day operations as needed.
Qualifications
- Required:
- Bachelor's degree in communications, sport management, or a related field.
- Acceptance and working toward completion of a Master's Degree at Baldwin Wallace University
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency with NCAA Live Stats, Presto Stats, Stat Crew, and similar software.
- General knowledge of public relations, college athletics, and sports communications.
- Preferred:
- Experience working in a collegiate sports information office or related environment.
- Familiarity with website management and digital content creation.
- Proficiency in graphic design software, including Adobe InDesign and Photoshop.
- Experience with digital photography and video editing software.
Conditions of Employment
- Acceptance and working toward the completion of a Master's Degree at Baldwin Wallace University.
- Exposure to unusual elements, heat, cold, loud noise, long hours, many people in a small area, physical activity such as running and carrying objects 20-100lbs.
- Must successfully complete a background check.
- Have a valid driver's license and must be able to secure and maintain certification to drive university vans.
- Hold American Red Cross First Aid, CPR & AED certification or obtain within 30 days of employment.
- Must complete all required University trainings, including Working with Minors training program
