GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Office of Academic Support and Instructional Services (OASIS) at Walden University seeks students currently enrolled in a Walden doctoral program for the position of Graduate Assistant - Qualitative Concepts Tutor. The tutoring program aims to support students with instruction in qualitative research software and concepts, helping them succeed in their courses at Walden University. The role involves tutoring students in topics related to NVivo software, qualitative research methods such as interviewing, observations, and data coding. Tutoring may be conducted through individual appointments, small group sessions, or email-based Q&A. The Graduate Assistant reports to the Manager of GA Strategy and Support in OASIS. This is a virtual position requiring 10 hours of work per week.

Remote Work Policy

If you reside more than 50 miles from Adtalem offices in Chicago, Addison, Columbia, Minneapolis, or Miramar, this role is considered remote. Occasional office visits may be required with prior notice.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide tutoring in qualitative concepts via WC Online and Zoom.
  • Communicate professionally and positively with students via email.
  • Contribute to program initiatives, including resource development and team meetings.
  • Dedicate approximately 40 hours per month, including evenings and weekends, to support a global student body.
  • Complete required training and ongoing professional development.

TECHNICAL, MANAGERIAL, AND PEOPLE SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Experience with NVivo and familiarity with Office 365.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Strong writing skills for professional email correspondence.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current enrollment in a Walden doctoral program.
  • Completion of graduate-level qualitative research coursework, including courses such as Qualitative Reasoning & Analysis (8310) and Advanced Qualitative Reasoning & Analysis (RSCH 8360).
  • Preferably, 3+ years of regular NVivo use.
  • Deep understanding of qualitative research principles and NVivo software.
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback and adapt to various learning styles.
  • Experience with online learning systems and additional analytical software is a plus.
