Job summary

Marshall University in Huntington, WV seeks a Graduate Assistant to support the Office of Student Advocacy and Accountability. You will assist MU students and clients, triage needs, staff the reception, and help with grade appeals and excused absences.

This 20-hour weekly GA appointment runs Fall 2026 through Spring 2027. The role includes orientation, ongoing training, and opportunities for professional growth within a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required by the first day of employment.
• Enrollment in or admission to a Marshall University graduate program is required.
• Minimum cumulative and semester GPA of 3.0 must be maintained.
• Experience relevant to the job duties is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional services to MU students and clients through the Office of Student Advocacy and Accountability.
• Serve as a student liaison for excused absences and grade appeals.
• Answer general questions and help students access resources.
• Staff the reception desk, greet students, and maintain filing systems.

Your Role

Here’s what you will be doing:

• Provide professional services to MU students, clients of a MU Clinic, or other individuals in need through the Office of Student Advocacy and Accountability.
• Serve as a student liaison, assisting with University Excused Absences, academic grade appeals, and general complaints.
• Answer general questions and help students access appropriate resources.
• Staff the reception desk, greet students, answer phones, and maintain filing systems.
• Assist with triaging student needs and connecting them with necessary resources.
• Help approve or deny University Excused Absences.
• Support presentations and organize activities.
• Collaborate with the Director of Student Advocacy to improve student experiences.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

About You

The company is looking for:

• Completion of a bachelor’s degree by the first day of employment.
• Enrollment in or seeking admittance to a Marshall University graduate program.
• Ability to maintain a minimum cumulative and semester GPA of 3.0.
• Preferred experience relevant to the job duties.

Compensation & Benefits
