Job summary

Montana Materials & Construction, a CRH Company, is seeking a Grading Superintendent to coordinate crews and equipment on heavy civil projects in Helena, MT. You will manage day-to-day relations with crews and clients and travel to multiple job sites as needed.

The ideal candidate has 3–6 years in heavy civil construction, leadership experience, and a proven ability to mentor crew members, including operators and laborers. Strong communication, organization, and safety focus are essential.

Qualifications

• Background in heavy civil construction incl. excavation, utilities, grading, site work, paving.
• Experience from laborer to leadership roles, able to teach and mentor crew.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects, including personnel, scheduling and equipment.
• Commitment to coaching, mentoring, and safety.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient with PC programs; able to learn new software quickly.
• Valid driver's license and US work authorization.

Responsibilities

• Develop project schedules with Project Manager/Estimator.
• Schedule projects, personnel, and equipment; coordinate with dispatcher.
• Participate in project meetings with agencies and customers.
• Support pre-bid and post-job meetings to evaluate profitability.
• Interface daily with crew to address needs and progress.
• Ensure timecards, coding, and hours are recorded accurately.
• Review daily cost sheets for budget compliance and explain variances.
• Review project plans and startup lists with PM, engineer, and crew lead.
• Assist Estimating with field measurements and progress feedback.
• Verify job quantities and orders; supervise direct reports.
• Travel to different job sites as needed.
• Routinely assist other production areas.
• Maintain regular attendance and promote inclusive environment.
