Job summary

Civil Works Contracting is seeking a Grade Foreman to supervise grading crews and coordinate earthmoving activities for land preparation on infrastructure projects in Wilmington, NC. You will ensure quality, safety, and timely delivery while liaising with project managers and crews.

The role requires 3+ years in grading/site construction with supervisory experience, OSHA knowledge, and the ability to read construction drawings. On-site work with travel to sites as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years grading/site construction experience, 1+ year supervisory.
• Valid driver's license.
• Strong understanding of grading principles and earthmoving equipment.
• OSHA safety knowledge.
• Good verbal and written communication.
• Ability to read construction drawings/plans.
• Scheduling and coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise grading crews and assign tasks.
• Coordinate use of equipment (bulldozers, graders, scrapers, compactors).
• Inspect sites and completed work for specs and safety.
• Monitor progress and adjust strategies to meet deadlines.
• Support managers with scheduling, reporting, and resource management.
• Maintain daily site activity and attendance records.
• Promote safety and OSHA compliance.
• Assist with training new crew members.
• Communicate with suppliers and subcontractors.
