Job summary

Olympia School District in Olympia, WA is seeking a paraeducator to assist teachers by implementing lesson plans, monitoring students, and helping with clerical tasks.

The role supports two first grade classrooms; employment is 6.0 hours per day, 180 days per year with holidays. Qualifications include a HS diploma or equivalent, plus Parapro assessment or college transcripts or an Associate’s degree; willingness to participate in required trainings and certifications.

Qualifications

• Education requirements include HS diploma or equivalent, and one of: Parapro assessment, college transcripts, or 72 quarter/48 semester credits, or an Associate’s degree.
• Prior experience with school age children preferred.
• Criminal background clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Assists teachers to implement lesson plans.
• Maintains classroom equipment, student files, and records.
• Monitors individual students and classroom/playground activities.
• Performs record keeping and basic clerical tasks for classroom support.
• Administers tests to assist evaluation of student progress.
• Confers with teachers/parents to discuss student progress and objectives.
• Participates in meetings to share information and develop skills.
