Job summary

Progressive regional CPA firm seeks an Audit Director with State and Local Government specialization to advance toward partnership. The role blends leadership across audit engagements, client relations, and staff development in a hybrid work environment with relocation assistance available.

The Director acts as liaison between Partners, clients, and staff, overseeing multiple audits, staffing, and engagement workflow while maintaining strong client relationships and ensuring compliance with

Qualifications

• Approximately 10 years' experience in public accounting with a minimum of 2 years in a senior manager position, with significant experience in the public sector, including auditing state and local governments.
• Holds a current and valid CPA license.
• Experience auditing in accordance with GAGAS/Yellow Book, GAAS and the Uniform Guidance.
• Ability to travel to client and firm office locations.

Responsibilities

• Maintains contact with clients throughout the year and builds strong client relationships.
• Acts as engagement partner or reports to the engagement partner on engagements per firm policy.
• Signs attest opinions as a representative of the firm when assigned the role of engagement partner.
• Oversees all phases of reporting to an engagement partner ensuring compliance with accounting framework and firm policy.
• Keeps partner informed of important developments on client accounts and identifies potential issues, implementing solutions after partner consultation.
• Ensures engagements are properly scheduled and resourced.
• Serves as subject matter expert for governmental sector engagements.
• Monitors billing and collection practices by engagement teams per firm policy.
• Supervises staff on engagements and provides on-the-job training; reviews work papers and reports.
• Participates in staff performance evaluations and counseling.
• Participates in recruitment and interviews for Assurance and Advisory candidates.
• Represents the firm in business development, building a network of contacts and referrals.

Education

Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
