Job summary

Progressive regional CPA firm seeks an Audit Director with a State and Local Government specialization. Fast track to partnership, reasonable work-life balance, and a hybrid work environment with relocation assistance available.

The Director serves as liaison among Partners, clients, and staff, managing multiple audits and engagements, developing staff, and pursuing new business for the firm. Travel to client sites required.

Qualifications

• Approximately 10 years' experience in public accounting, with at least 2 years in a senior manager role.
• Significant public sector auditing experience, including state and local governments.
• Holds a current and valid CPA license.
• Ability to travel to client and firm office locations.
• Demonstrated ability to bring in new business to a CPA Firm.
• Experience conducting audits with GAGAS/Yellow Book, GAAS and the Uniform Guidance.
• Ability to direct, review and train departmental staff.
• Exposure to audits of not-for-profit organizations.

Responsibilities

• Maintains contact with clients throughout the year and builds strong relationships.
• Leads and/or reports to engagement partner on engagements per firm policies.
• Signs attest opinions as engaged partner when assigned.
• Oversees engagement phases and ensures compliance with accounting frameworks and firm policies.
• Keeps engagement partner informed of important developments and issues; proposes solutions.
• Ensures engagements are properly scheduled and staffed.
• Serves as a subject matter expert for governmental sector engagements.
• Oversees billing and collection practices by engagement teams per policy.
• Supervises staff and provides on-the-job training; reviews work papers and reports.
• Participates in staff performance evaluations and counseling.
• Participates in staff recruitment and interviews for Assurance and Advisory candidates.
• Represents the firm in business development; develops networks and referrals to generate business.
• Leads prospective client communications, fee estimates, and meetings.
