Job summary

Steampunk seeks a UI/UX Designer to guide government clients through the Design Intelligence framework, applying human-centered methods to solve complex digital experiences from discovery to interface design.

You will conduct research, prototyping, iteration, accessibility testing, and usability analyses; collaborate in an Agile, cross‑functional team; and ensure deliverables meet high usability and accessibility standards.

Qualifications

Ability to obtain a U.S. government Public Trust Security Clearance.
4+ years of professional UX and UI experience for multi‑platform digital products.
Portfolio demonstrating ideology, methods, tools, skills and craft.
Experience conducting user research including interviews, workshops, and card sorting.
Proficient in wireframing, prototyping, usability and accessibility testing.
Knowledge of 508 compliance and working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
Experience writing user stories and story points in sprints.
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Figma, and Zeplin.
Curious, analytical, and collaborative with strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

Participate in discovery to understand client goals, stakeholders, users and journeys.
Conduct workshops and interviews to frame pain points and opportunities.
Create journey maps, service blueprints, personas and information architecture artifacts.
Conduct user research and translate needs into a digital experience.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams within an Agile environment.
Design intuitive, accessible interfaces and iterate through test cycles.
Ensure deliverables meet high quality across projects.
