Job summary

Steampunk is seeking a UX/UI designer in Bloomington, IL to guide government clients through our Design Intelligence framework. You will lead discovery, research, prototyping, and interface design while keeping the user at the center.

You will conduct workshops, build personas and journeys, and translate insights into practical designs. Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and a focus on accessibility are essential to deliver high‑quality solutions.

Qualifications

4+ years of professional UX and UI experience designing viable solutions for multi‑platform digital products.
Portfolio demonstrating ideation, methods, tools, skills, and craft.
Experience conducting user research and translating insights into personas, journey maps, and IA.
UI design experience with wireframes, prototypes, and accessibility testing
Knowledge of 508 compliance and working in an Agile Scrum environment
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Figma and prototyping tools

Responsibilities

Participate in all aspects of the discovery process to understand client goals and user ecosystems.
Conduct workshops and interviews to frame pain points and opportunities.
Translate user needs into an implementable digital experience.
