Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a highly autonomous systems engineer to own and improve government-facing systems, including Salesforce Service Cloud, data models, and integrations. You will define scope, make technical decisions, and drive implementations through testing, production validation, and ongoing operation.

You will collaborate with government, support, operations, security, and engineering teams to ensure reliable, scalable solutions and maintainable workflows.

Qualifications

• Prior government system delivery/operation experience and constraints.
• Deep SFDC Service Cloud experience: Apex, LWC, Flow, data modeling, configuration, integrations.
• Track record of owning ambiguous technical work independently.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals: architecture, readable code, automated tests; familiar with Python/Java.
• Experience with Salesforce security, data handling, production reliability, incident response and recovery.
• Understanding of support workflows and translating operational needs into maintainable systems.
• Preferred: Salesforce certs (Platform Developer II, Service Cloud Consultant, Platform App Builder, Applications Architect).
• Preferred: experience applying AI or automation to support operations.

Responsibilities

• Own government support systems from problem definition through delivery and operation.
• Design and build maintainable service workflows, data models, interfaces, and integrations.
• Collaborate with government, support, operations, security, and engineering to balance technical tradeoffs.
• Improve reliability and performance with automated tests, observability, safe releases, incident response, and recovery.
• Document architecture and recovery paths; automate repetitive work and contribute to other priorities as needed.
