Job summary

Day & Zimmermann Company in the United States seeks a Property Book Officer to manage the approved Property Management System for government-furnished and contractor property at Hawthorne Army Depot. You will oversee receipt, storage, issue, inventory, tracking, reconciliation, and disposition while ensuring audit readiness and compliance with FAR and DoD requirements.

The role requires strong recordkeeping, inventory reconciliation, and familiarity with government property regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; related postsecondary training optional.
• 3+ years in property accountability, government property, materials, inventory, logistics, or supply chain.
• Knowledge of government property accountability principles, FAR Part 45, FAR 52.245-1.
• Ability to reconcile inventories, research discrepancies, and support loss investigations.
• Proficiency with automated property accountability systems and standard office software.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid state driver’s license and government security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and administer an approved Property Management System for accountability, stewardship, utilization, and control of government and contractor property; serve as SME for property accountability.
• Establish and maintain auditable property records; support acquisition, receipt, transfer, issue, location, and disposition transactions.
• Coordinate physical inventories, investigate discrepancies, and prepare documentation for loss/release actions.
• Conduct monthly reviews, walkthroughs, and annual system analyses to evaluate compliance and risk; generate reports as required.
• Prepare and analyze reports for agencies, leadership, auditors, and stakeholders; improve procedures and internal controls.
