Job summary

MDS Staffing is seeking an Audit Director for a Progressive regional CPA firm in Colorado. This role focuses on State and Local Government audits and offers a hybrid work environment with growth toward partnership.

The Director will oversee multiple engagements, mentor staff, lead business development for government sector work, and ensure compliance with GAAS, GAGAS, and Uniform Guidance while maintaining strong client relationships.

Qualifications

• Approximately 10 years of public accounting experience
• Minimum 2 years in a senior manager position
• Significant government/public sector auditing experience (state and local governments)
• Ability to travel to client and firm locations
• Experience bringing in new business to a CPA Firm
• Auditing in accordance with GAGAS, GAAS, and Uniform Guidance

Responsibilities

• Maintain contact with clients and understand their operations and controls
• Lead or report to engagement partner on engagements per firm policy
• Sign and attest opinions as engagement partner when assigned
• Oversee all phases of engagement reporting and ensure compliance with accounting standards and firm policy
• Provide updates to engagement Partner on developments and issues
• Ensure proper scheduling of engagements and staffing
• Act as subject matter expert for governmental sector
• Oversee billing and collections per firm policy
• Supervise and train staff; review work papers and reports
• Participate in staff performance evaluations and counseling
• Assist in recruitment and interviews for Assurance and Advisory candidates
• Lead business development and client relationship activities
• Lead communications with prospective clients, prepare fee estimates, attend meetings
• Ensure compliance with firm-wide policies and procedures
