The Government Affairs Director oversees efforts in key states across the country. The Director collaborates with leadership, internal and external partners, and stakeholders to develop and implement strategies that align with the organization’s vision.

The yes. every kid team is remote, with an optional in-person office in Arlington, VA.

How You’ll Contribute
  1. Develop and execute multi-session state government affairs strategies to promote education freedom and meet organizational goals.
  2. Hire and manage contract lobbyists.
  3. Build relationships with policy champions, policymakers, and stakeholders.
  4. Collaborate with internal teams and external partners.
  5. Lead public affairs campaigns, including lobbying, legislative advocacy, and coalition management.
  6. Manage a portfolio of spending to ensure a strong return on investment.
  7. Ensure compliance with all relevant state laws, including lobbying registration and reporting requirements.
What You Will Bring
  1. Experience in government affairs, lobbying, or legislative advocacy.
  2. Understanding of legislative processes and policymaking.
  3. Experience bringing ideas from conception to implementation in public policy.
  4. Ability to interpret policy concepts and legislative language.
  5. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, remote environment.
  6. Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
  7. Strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and professionalism.
  8. Interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  9. Entrepreneurial mindset.
