Job summary

Goshen Cafeteria Youth Development Professional supports a safe, welcoming meal service environment for Club members. This role provides direct supervision of youth during meal periods, assists with meal setup and distribution, and completes required meal counts and documentation in line with grant or program requirements.

The position is part-time (15 hours/week), Monday–Friday 2pm–5pm in Goshen, Indiana, and requires a High School diploma or GED, ability to lift up to 20 lbs, and strong

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Ability to accurately complete meal counts, logs, and other required documentation.
  • Ability to follow detailed food service, sanitation, and grant/program compliance procedures.
  • Food handling or food safety certification preferred or ability to obtain required certification after hire.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow direction and work as part of a team.
  • Positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting up to 20 lbs and extended periods of standing or sitting.

Responsibilities

  • Actively supervise youth during lunch, snack, and other designated meal periods.
  • Support consistent behavioral expectations and provide developmentally appropriate guidance and redirection.
  • Monitor youth during arrival, meal distribution, seating, and dismissal from the café.
  • Follow all Club supervision, safety, sanitation, and emergency procedures.
  • Assist with the setup, distribution, and cleanup of meals and snacks.
  • Ensure meals are distributed according to established procedures and program requirements.
  • Maintain an organized and efficient meal service process while ensuring appropriate youth supervision.
  • Support proper handling, storage, and care of food service supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of tables, serving areas, and café spaces before, during, and after meal service.
  • Accurately tally meals and/or snacks at the point of distribution as required.
  • Complete required daily meal service records and documentation accurately and timely.
  • Follow established grant, food program, and organizational requirements related to meal distribution and recordkeeping.
  • Ensure required documentation is complete and submitted or stored according to established procedures.
  • Immediately communicate discrepancies, missing documentation, food shortages, or compliance concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Participate in training related to meal service, food safety, and applicable grant or program requirements.
  • Build positive and supportive relationships with Club members.
  • Model respectful, responsible, and positive behavior.
  • Encourage appropriate mealtime behavior, inclusion, cooperation, and positive peer interactions.
  • Reinforce Club values and expectations through daily interactions with youth.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free café environment.
  • Assist with transitions to and from the café and other program areas.
  • Communicate effectively with Club staff regarding meal service needs, youth concerns, and daily operations.
  • Assist with other Club activities or youth supervision as assigned when café responsibilities are complete.

Job Summary:

The Café Youth Development Professional supports a safe, welcoming, and organized meal service environment for Club members.
