Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of Elkhart County is seeking a part-time position to oversee the daily snack and meal program operations while supervising cafeteria activities with high energy. The role runs 30.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday with specific afternoon hours.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a 21+ age minimum, and a relevant degree or extensive experience in culinary arts/food sciences. You will manage staff, ensure compliance, and engage youth in nutrition education.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in culinary arts, food sciences, or related field.
  • Three or more years of food-related experience.
  • Expertise in youth nutrition and meal program supervision.
  • Proficient in managing staff, volunteers, and paperwork.
  • Knowledgeable about state compliance and data management.
  • Strong reasoning, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Customer service-oriented with computer proficiency.
  • Reliable transportation, safe driving record, active driver’s license, and automobile insurance is preferred.
  • Position may require standing/sitting for extended periods of time, reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally, bending at the waist, and ability to lift up to 20lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee snack and meal program execution and data collection.
  • Procure food resources locally when feasible.
  • Ensure timely document submission.
  • Supervise cafeteria and kitchen cleaning and maintenance.
  • Research and procure food locally.
  • Prepare meals for Club events.
  • Teach food preservation and cooking classes.
  • Maintain scratch cooking with fresh ingredients.
  • Participate in professional development and adhere to policies.
  • Uphold youth development strategies and ethical behavior.
  • Foster relationships with parents and act as a Club advocate.
  • Perform assigned administrative tasks.

Job Summary:

This position oversees the daily snack and meal program operations while supervising cafeteria activities in a high-energy manner.

Weekly Hours & Schedule:
  • Part-time, 30.5 hours per week
  • Monday through Friday 1:00pm-7:00pm (Wednesdays 12:30pm-7:00pm)
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Manage snack and meal program execution, including preparation and data collection.
  • Procure food resources locally when feasible.
  • Ensure timely document submission.
  • Assist staff as required.
  • Supervise cafeteria and kitchen cleaning, maintenance, and periodic deep cleaning.
  • Research and procure food locally.
  • Prepare meals for Club events.
  • Teach food preservation and cooking classes.
  • Maintain scratch cooking with fresh ingredients.
  • Participate in professional development and adhere to organizational policies.
  • Uphold youth development strategies, accountability, and ethical behavior.
  • Foster positive relationships with parents and act as a Club advocate.
  • Perform assigned administrative tasks.
