Job summary

BlackHorse Golf Club is seeking a Retail Manager to lead all aspects of the golf shop, including merchandising, inventory, presentation, financial performance, and guest service. You will partner with club leadership, golf professionals, and national merchandise teams to execute a cohesive retail strategy that reflects the BlackHorse brand.

The ideal candidate blends strong retail instincts with hospitality, owns the numbers, and drives engaging displays and member-focused service.

Qualifications

• Previous retail management, merchandising, buying, or inventory management experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of retail financials.
• Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Proficiency with point-of-sale, inventory management, and Microsoft Office applications preferred.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule based on the needs of the club, including weekends, holidays, tournaments, and special events.

Responsibilities

• Own the overall performance and day-to-day management of the BlackHorse retail operation.
• Develop and execute the club's merchandising strategy across apparel, headwear, footwear, accessories, gifts, and golf-related merchandise.
• Maintain a clean, organized, appropriately stocked, and visually compelling golf shop, regularly refreshing displays and product presentation.
• Develop seasonal merchandising plans, promotions, special-order opportunities, and other initiatives designed to drive Member engagement and retail sales.
• Work closely with Regional and National Merchandise Teams on purchasing strategies, vendor relationships, product selection, and company-wide merchandising initiatives based on seasonality, historical performance, sales trends, Member preferences, upcoming events, budgets, and company guidelines.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and oversee receiving, transfers, physical inventories, reconciliation, and required end-of-month (EOM) inventory processes.
• Monitor retail sales, cost of goods sold, gross margin, inventory turns, sell-through, markdowns, and aged inventory, adjusting strategies as needed to achieve established financial goals.
• Assist in developing the annual retail budget and merchandise purchasing plan.
• Provide exceptional hospitality and personalized service to Members and guests.
• Build relationships with Members to understand their preferences, interests, and purchasing habits and use that knowledge to improve the retail offering.
• Manage special orders from request through delivery, providing timely communication and follow-through.
• Coordinate merchandise needs for Member tournaments, Member-Guest events, corporate outings, outside tournaments, and other club activities.
• Work closely with the Director of Golf, golf professional staff, club leadership, and Regional and National Merchandise Teams to continually improve the retail operation.
• Train golf shop team members on product knowledge, selling techniques, merchandising standards, inventory procedures, and special-order processes.
• Take ownership of retail-related issues and follow through until they are resolved.
