Job summary

The Navy Region Southeast, Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department, at Naval Air Station Jacksonville, seeks a Golf Course Maintenance Assistant to help the Superintendent manage a 27-hole course, irrigation, turf care and course facilities. You will support pesticide use decisions, soil sampling, equipment upkeep and staff supervision.

Responsibilities include calibrating sprayers, applying fungicides and fertilizers, maintaining records, and coordinating with the maintenance team to keep

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Turf Management or related field.
• Broad background in golf course maintenance and agronomic practices.
• Knowledge of pests and pesticides for turf treatment.
• Complete Navy entomology/pest control course within 6 months.
• Experience solving complex operational problems.
• Knowledge of golf course equipment and operation.
• Ability to supervise and lead employees.
• Must hold a current valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Assist Superintendent in pesticide/fertilizer decisions and turf health.
• Ensure proper irrigation system operation and water usage.
• Calibrate sprayers/sprinklers for accurate material application.
• Advise on equipment selection and maintenance needs.
• Maintain records (MSDS, safety, schedules, purchases).
• Supervise Tractor Operators and other staff; approve leaves.
• Coordinate with MW R Division on turf management and budget input.
