Job summary

Jekyll Island is seeking an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to support daily maintenance operations under the Superintendent. You will oversee chemical and fertilizer applications, coordinate staff, and assist in operating irrigation systems to maintain pristine playing surfaces.

Daily duties include supervising maintenance tasks, ensuring safety, and attending industry meetings to maintain required credit hours.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2-4 years experience in golf course maintenance; supervisory experience preferred.
• Category 24 pesticide license required at hire or within 6 months.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Computer skills are required.
• Flexible schedule including early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
• Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality is required.
• Two to four year degree in Turfgrass Management or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Superintendent in maintaining the golf courses (greens, fairways, tees, bunkers, roughs).
• Perform daily inspections and report issues to the Superintendent.
• Train staff and ensure tasks follow job descriptions.
• Ensure irrigation systems function properly and inspect daily.
• Cover for other maintenance staff when needed.
• Enforce safety regulations and EPA/EPD requirements.
• Maintain safety equipment inventory and records.
• Attend required trainings and meetings (GGCSA and GCSAA).
• Perform other duties as assigned.
