Job summary

Navy Region Southwest Fleet and Family Readiness (FFR) seeks a dedicated Grounds Maintenance Worker to maintain golf course turf in playing condition and support related grounds operations in San Diego, CA.

You will oversee junior staff, diagnose turf issues, apply treatments, rake bunkers, and operate irrigation and mowing equipment to keep courses in top shape. Federal requirements apply, with emphasis on safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Must have working knowledge of ground maintenance and methods used for seeding, mowing and grasses on golf courses and greens.
• Knowledge of soils, chemicals, equipment and environmentally approved disease control methods.
• Certificate of completion of environmental training may be required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain tees, fairways, bunkers, hazards, greens, flags, sand traps, and related facilities.
• Oversee lower level employees in mowing and watering of course.
• Diagnose lawn diseases and apply proper treatments.
• Rake sand traps and replace with fresh sand as needed.
• Operate vehicles/tractors and irrigation systems to groom turf.
• Police areas and ensure proper trash disposal.
